City Spa & Health Center

I’ve always been coming to City Spa and has always been getting great atmosphere and service. But just recently I lost my Oura ring and it didn’t cross my mind that I could have lost it in the Spa. The other day, I went back as I regularly do and just thought I’d ask if by any chance, they got my ring. To my delight, they did! They had it safely kept and returned it to me. I am so pleased with the service.

Hot Sauna, Hot Steam Room, Hot Beef Borscht. What else can you want? It's like an old "mansion spa" in the middle of the city. In the evening, from the City to the Valley, I hang out there for a few hours to avoid the insane freeway traffic or until the traffic dies down, then I go home looking good, feeling good, smelling good...very clean! If you come in early, there is a very nice sun deck on the roof patio to get a great tan!

I haven't wanted to write a review for City Spa because it's my own secret paradise but they deserve the recognition. This is Los Angeles only Russian Banya and it's as authentic as you'll find outside of Moscow. Founded over 70 years ago, the spa is centered around its multi level gas sauna with extreme heat. Here you'll find patrons beating each other with oak and eucalyptus branches. This is the best sauna in all of Los Angeles. Just outside is the cold plunge. It averages temps in the low 40's and is a perfect for those who aren't faint of heart. After the cold dip I sit for a while and let my body rejuvenate before I enter the steam room. There's no lack of steam and you can ask the staff for a spray which includes eucalyptus and other essential oils. Next I jump into the cold swimming pool with a temp in the low 60's. After a swim I relax in the jacuzzi. Then I use the salt sauna followed by the cold dip and do the entire circuit over again. They also have massages, a rooftop sun lounge, a gym, a sleep room, and last but not least an authentic Russian restaurant with item like borscht, lamb chops, watermelon with feta, branzino, and Russian dumplings. The food is wholesome, healthy, and tastes homemade. Some days are men only and some days are co-ed (bathing suit required) so check ahead of time.

It’s an experience few would find exceptional; unless you treasure a scorching hot sauna and clean cold plunge to heal your sore muscles and joints, or to get your endorphins pumping. It’s not fancy. It’s only co- ed a few days a week, but it’s nostalgic. They did raise the price, and hopefully they’ll bring it back down to earth. It’s a great place to bring a date if you feel confident in your own skin-

I have checked them out near and far. You will never find another sauna like this in the US. High heat and low heat for dry sauna. Cool pool and Cold pool. Steam room and Jacuzzi . Restaurant slings out the Best food and juices. Upstairs sunnin hangout section. Not to mention the staff have seen it all and are very welcoming. Recommend
